John ‘Mr TT’ McGuinness joins Quattro Plant Kawasaki

10/01/2020

We’ve started the year with some great news for motor racing fans – legendary rider John McGuinness is joining Team Green, and will be riding for Quattro Plant Kawasaki this season!

The exciting news, announced today, sees the 23 times TT winner join the Quattro family to start his 30th year of racing – perfect timing as the company also celebrates the end of their 30th year!

McGuinness will ride at the TT and North West 200, alongside team mate Alastair Seeley. With 47 podiums and 23 TT wins under his belt, there are high hopes for a Team Green podium this year on the Isle of Man, and there’s likely to be heavy competition between team mates at the NW200 – McGuinness holds six wins and 21 podiums, whilst Seeley boasts a record-breaking 24 wins in this race… could we be in for a green one and two this year?

“I’m delighted to announce my plans for the 2020 International road racing season and equally delighted to be riding for Quattro Plant Bournemouth Kawasaki,” said McGuinness.

“Their record on the roads with James Hillier, in terms of both results and reliability, along with their reputation within the bike industry, speak for themselves and with it being such a family-orientated team, it’s the perfect fit for me. It’s a highly reputable, professional team who have achieved great things on both the roads and the circuits and, for me, they tick all the boxes.”

Team Principle Pete Extance is over the moon with the new signing: “It’s absolutely incredible news that we can welcome road racing legend John McGuinness onto our Quattro Plant Bournemouth Kawasaki machinery. To me, John is Mr TT with his road racing feats elsewhere, at the likes of the North West 200 and Macau Grand Prix, simply superb and what an honour it is to have our Bournemouth Kawasaki dealership associated with him.”

“We both know there’s a big job ahead of us to be ready for the new season but it’s one that we know will be great fun. Hopefully, we can put John McGuinness back on the podium at the Isle of Man TT and North West 200 in 2020, the place where we know he belongs. Together with Alastair, we have a simply stunning line up of riders for the International road races and we can’t wait for it all to start.”

The news comes hot on the heels of details of Alastair Seeley’s signing to race in the North West 2000. Another 24-times winner, Seeley’s record-breaking winning streak at the NW200 started in 2008, and has continued ever since.

Let’s raise a glass to a great signing, and a great season!
